This and That

This is a picture of the berries on my dogwood tree. It doesn't show up as nice as it does when you are standing on my lawn, but maybe it was too early in the morning.

This is what I did yesterday- a knitting lesson. Julie had a pattern she wanted help on, but she had forgotten a lot that she had learned before. So, I taught her how to cast on, how to do the ribbing, and how to use other colors in a pattern. She said if she gets going she might want to have me show her again on the colors. The sweater she chose for Aubree is knit on the circular needles. I have some but not the size her pattern called for, so she was going to buy the size she needed. She wants to make a sweater for Aubree and Mindy and then when her boys were small I had knit a sweater with a train on it. She asked if I still had that pattern, because Ethan loves trains. So while she was practicing her knitting I found the train sweater pattern. She has chosen a big job wanting to knit three sweaters. For you grandkids- this is Grandpa's older sister, Anna Mary and her husband, Marvin Byler. They just celebrated 61 years of marriage. We had a Harvest Party at church tonight with

soups, sandwiches etc. They had games for the kids and a hay ride. I took this picture when they were eating and I don't think they even knew I had taken it.

Kaelyn's birthday party

I had to take a picture of my little maple tree with its red leaves. Fall is here, can winter be far behind?
At Kaelyn's party- here is Grandma Geesaman with Garin. She was holding him most of the afternoon.

Here is Kaelyn "modeling" her "dress up" dress that Toot and Rod gave her. She loves to dress uo and had all sorts of necklaces on. Here I am holding Garin. Since my cataract surgery I don't need my glasses, but I do need reading glasses for fine print. Garin is growing and I think Mandy said he weighs 18 pounds. He is 4 and 1/2 months old. He has such blue eyes.

Kaelyn wanted to stick her fingers in the icing. She was able to blow out her three candles.
Here is Kaelyn in her dress up princess dress, sitting on her bean bag chair that Matt and Cherie gave her. She was having a great time with Matt. I think she misses her Daddy. How did I get two of the same pics on? I must have missed another one that I meant to use. Oh well, you will see a lot of pics when Toot posts hers.

Big Valley week end

I went to Big ValleyFriday afternoon and stopped at Sallie's. I forgot to take pics! We went to Peachey's to eat. It was delicious. The had various seafood on the buffet. I love salmon and had salmon cakes, some broiled haddock, plus all the trimmings. I didn't take of everything, but I especially liked their cole slaw. It was cut fine (the way I like it) and seasoned just right. I also had some of their broccoli salad, with lemon meringue pie for dessert. After we ate Sallie and I went to visit an elementary school friend of mine, Ida (King) Peachey. Again I didn't have my camera along. Ida and I still keep in touch, but only at Christmas time. Her husband loved to go fishing and he died over a year ago as he was fishing. They found him lying in the water. I went up to Aunt Sis for the night. She had gone on a bus trip to Nova Scotia for 10 days and wasn't home until past 9:30. On Saturday Sis and I went to Walmart so she could get a bunch of pictures developed. We stopped at the Fall Harvest Craft Show at the the Youth Park in Reedsville. We went to her house. She had a banquet that evening, so she dropped me off at my cousin Rachel's for a visit. That is the picture you see. Rachel is a daughter of my mother's oldest sister, Aunt Sadie. Rachel has a lot of health problems and walks with a cane. She was an R.N. at Lewistown Hospital for over 30 years. She never had any children of her own but loves her nieces and nephews. Rachel's husband died in his sleep about 15 years ago. Can you imagine waking up with a dead body in bed with you?
I went with Aunt Sis to early Sunday School class at 8 A.M. This is part of the Locust Grove Church. The part on the right of the picture is the Sunday School class rooms. We went to the worship service after Sunday School and I saw a lot of folks I knew. Most the the people go to Sunday School after the worship service.
This is another picture of Locust Grove. This was the church where I gew up, although it wasn't this building. They had to build larger and the church has come a long way, reaching people in the community. There were so many cars parked around the church in the morning, so I stopped on the way home to get this pic.
Friday night, while I was waiting for Sis to come home I picked up one of her Amish series and started reading. When she was getting dinner ready on Sunday, I was so engrossed with the book that I didn't even know she was taking my picture. This series is not Beverly Lewis, but written by Wanda Brunstetter, set in Holmes County, Ohio. Sis had invited two friends for dinner. She had a ham in the oven and also made candied sweet potatoes, and green beans. She also had apple sauce, and pickled red beets, with almond pond cake (hot from the oven) and raspberry ice cream for dessert.
After we ate we played cards. It was a new game, sort of like King's Corner, but played with Rook Cards- without the Rook. The empty cahir is where I had been sittin g. From left to right, Aunt Sis, Anna Margaret, and Sara Beuchler. Anna Margaret is my sister in law and was married to Grandpa's brother Allen. They were a lot of fun. Sara Beuchler said I looked sophisicated with my reading glasses on the end of my nose! I left for home about 3. I got home just a little after 5.
